Over the years, Ford has prioritized giving back to local communities, most recently supporting Latina entrepreneurs impacted by COVID-19, and providing scholarships to minorities interested in pursuing a career as engineers. In March, Ford also announced it would launch the Motor City Kares Giveaway to give one dentist the chance to win a $150,000 Ford Transit mobile dentistry office to help children and families living in low-income areas. Now, a new Ford Transit van donation program has gifted a mobile dentist office to two minority-led Michigan dental health providers.
Hygiene On Wheels was the first to receive a donated Ford Transit Van. It was founded by Deanna Alexander, a registered dental hygienist, back in 2008. Alexandar has been providing dental care and education to underserved communities for many years. Her new mobile clinic will enable her to offer these services to an even wider audience. My Community Dental Center (MCDC), Michigan’s largest nonprofit dental service provider, received the second Transit van. MCDC was established in 2006. It currently has 34 locations throughout the state. They serve patients with all types of insurance as well as patients without coverage.
